Bale Creek Allen, artist, Fort Worth
Moderated by Robert McAn, head of donor relations, membership, and special events
Bale Creek Allen was born in California to native Texan artist parents. Whatever the medium, Allen, with a keen eye for composition and exquisite craftsmanship, reveals the inherent and suggestive narrative qualities of familiar objects. Among his best-known works are tumbleweeds, tire treads and other objects painstakingly cast into bronze sculptures with a range of finishes, from gold to nickel.
What does the art of the past mean to the artist of the present? In this ongoing program, moderated by Kimbell staff, artists and architects discuss works in the museum’s collection, share the special insights of the practicing professional, and relate older art to contemporary artistic concerns, including their own. The program is free and requires no reservations.
