From March 14 through September 19, 2027, 130 artifacts spanning three millennia in ancient Egypt will be on view in Fort Worth.
The specialist in eighteenth- and nineteenth-century French and British art comes to the Kimbell from the Art Institute of Chicago.
The two sculptures, purchased from the esteemed Barbier-Mueller Collection, are the first works from Gabon to enter the Kimbell’s collection.
On loan from the Gallerie Nazionali di Arte Antica in Rome, the painting will be on view at the Kimbell September 14, 2025, through January 11, 2026.
The new acquisition is on view, as the Kimbell’s Caravaggio painting "The Cardsharps" (c. 1596–97) also returns on view after a loan to a celebrated exhibition at Rome’s Palazzo Barberini.
One of Chardin’s most important paintings, "The Cut Melon" (1760) has remained in legendary private collections until now.
