Jesse Sierra Hernandez

Jesse Sierra Hernandez, painter, Fort Worth

Moderated by Jennifer Casler Price, senior curator of Asian, African, and Ancient American art

Jesse Sierra Hernandez is a self-taught artist based in Fort Worth. Painting in a representational style, primarily in oils, he draws from a wide range of influences—including his experience as an art preparator at the Kimbell Art Museum, where he has worked since 2001. His most recent paintings are based on the figure and are informed by the works of Bonnard, Caravaggio, Titian, and David. In his talk, Hernandez will share his unique perspective on the artworks in the collection that have shaped his artistic practice.

What does the art of the past mean to the artist of the present? In this ongoing program, moderated by Kimbell staff, artists and architects discuss works in the museum’s collection, share the special insights of the practicing professional, and relate older art to contemporary artistic concerns, including their own. The program is free and requires no reservations.

Lecture programs are supported in part by the Marlene and Spencer Hays Foundation.
