Parcel check

  • Please check all bags, backpacks, umbrellas, and other large objects at the complimentary parcel check. 
  • Bags larger than 15 x 15 x 5 inches are not permitted in the galleries. 
  • No bags of any size may be worn on the back in museum galleries. Small backpacks must be checked, worn on your front, or carried in your hand.
  • For the safety of our visitors and the artworks on display strollers may not be permitted during periods of high visitation. On these occasions stroller parking will be made available. 

 

In the galleries

  • The gallery attendants are here both to protect the artworks and provide you with assistance.
  • Help us protect our collection by maintaining at least a 12-inch distance from the artwork and cases.
  • We encourage you to sketch in the galleries with only pencils and avoid obstructing pathways for other visitors. We ask that parents or caregivers carry kids’ pencils or sketchbooks while walking through the galleries.
  • Please turn your cell phones to silent mode while in the galleries to help ensure an enjoyable museum experience for all.
  • Unscheduled lecturing to groups is not permitted. Learn more about guided tours here.

In the Museum

  • We welcome service animals at the Kimbell.
  • Bench seating is available in most galleries throughout the museum. Borrow a foldable stool for free at Kahn Building Information, Piano Pavilion Information, or the parcel check in either building.
  • Restrooms are located on the lower level of the Kahn Building and on both the upper and lower levels of the Piano Pavilion. Family restrooms are located on the upper level of the Piano Pavilion. All restrooms contain wheelchair-accessible stalls.
  • We invite mothers to breastfeed their babies wherever they feel comfortable. A nursing room is also available in the Piano Pavilion’s lower-level women’s restroom, located near the entrance to the Pavilion Auditorium.
  • Changing tables are available in the Piano Pavilion’s upper-level family restrooms as well as in the men’s and women’s restrooms on the lower level of the Kahn Building and Piano Pavilion.

Photography is welcome

  • Nonflash photography and videography solely for noncommercial purposes is permitted throughout the galleries unless otherwise noted. 
  • Tripods, selfie sticks, and other photographic equipment are not permitted in the galleries.
  • Filming of museum programs and guided tours is at the discretion of the individual program or tour leader.
  • The museum reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to withhold and/or withdraw permission to photograph on its premises or to reproduce photographs of objects in its collections.

Food and drink

  • Food or drinks, including water and baby bottles, are not allowed in the museum’s galleries.
  • Enjoy an artful meal at the Kimbell Café

Restricted items

  • No weapons are permitted in the museum, with the exception of law enforcement officers.
  • Tobacco use, including cigarettes, cigars, pipes, electronic cigarettes, snuff, and chewing tobacco, is not allowed in the museum or anywhere on our grounds.
